Key Points

Key Points for a Christ follower to believe:

  1. God created you.
    • Psalm 139:13-16: “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made […] All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”
  2. God loves you.
    • John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.”
  3. God wants a personal relationship with you.
    • John 17:3: “Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the one true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.”
  4. But God is holy, and our sin separates us from Him.
    • Leviticus 19:2: “Be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy.”
    • Isaiah 59:2: “Your iniquities have separated you from your God.”
    • Rom. 6:23: “The wages of sin is death…”
  5. What is sin?
    • James 4:17: “Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn’t do it, sins.”
    • 1 John 3:4:”Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.”
  6. We all are guilty of sin.
    • Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
    • Romans 5:17: “By the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man.”
  7. Through His son, Jesus Christ, we can have the personal relationship He desires.
    • John 14:6: “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
    • 1 Timothy 2:5: “For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus…”
  8. Jesus was perfectly righteous, and He died as the necessary sacrifice and payment for all our sins.
    • 1 Peter 3:18: “Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.”
    • Romans 3:25: “God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood.”
  9. It just comes down to our personal choice.
    • Romans 10:9-10: “That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”
    • 1 John 1:9: “If we confess our sins He is faithful and just and will forgive us of our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
    • John 1:12: “Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”
    • Matthew 16:24 “Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.”
    • Acts 2:38: “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

If you wish to acknowledge Jesus as your Lord and Savior, one way to signify your acceptance of this precious gift is to call out to God in prayer from a genuine heart something similar to the following:

“God, you are my heavenly Father, my Lord and Savior, and your name is Holy. I confess that I am a sinner, and that my sin separates me from you. I believe that Jesus Christ died as a perfect sacrifice for my sins and that He was resurrected three days later. Thank you for sending your Son to die for your people so that I can have eternal life with you. I ask your forgiveness for my sins. Cleanse me from my unrighteousness and direct me to do your will by the power of your Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Now praise God for your transformation! 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”
